Special Needs Khayelitsha Family to Receive New Home from Minister Madikizela

13 October 2015

Today, 14 October 2015, Minister Bonginkosi Madikizela will hand over a house to Ms Nomapostile Ginyizembe and her disabled daughter, Dunyiswa Ginyizimbe in Khayelitsha. The Department has a strategic goal to prioritize the elderly and those with special needs, and the provision of the house to Ms Ginyezembe reflects this approach.

The Department was appalled by the living conditions of Ms Ginyizembe and her daughter, Dunyiswa who is mentally and physically disabled. Dunyiswa attends Vukani Special Care Centre situated nearby the informal settlement she lives at with her mother.

Since Dunyiswa is using a wheelchair it becomes difficult for her mother to take her out to the school transport pick-up point due to the appalling living conditions in the Site B informal settlement of Khayelitsha. To make life easier for Dunyiswa and her mother, through a partnership with  private companies the Department decided to build a suitable house for them in Khayelitsha.

All members of the media are invited to attend this event.
