Drommedaris Beneficiaries Received Their House Keys in Paarl

Tuesday 11 March 2014, the National Minister of Human Settlements Connie September accompanied by Western Cape Minister of Human Settlements Bonginkosi Madikizela, attend the official handover ceremony of housing units to beneficiaries of Drommedaris housing project in Paarl.

This project has a budget of approximately R100-million and will deliver 1 407 houses when complete. The allocation of housing opportunities in this project will be split among backyarders and other communities. The aim of this project is to improve the living conditions of the residents of Drommedaris Informal Settlement and at the same time it will minimize the pollution of the Berg River.

“We will continue fighting the housing back lock in South Africa” said the Human Settlements MEC Madikizela. Madikizela urged the national government, provincial government, municipalities and beneficiaries to work together in fulfilling the housing back lock in South Africa. The National Minister Connie September also added by saying “Housing requires a lot of patience and working together as government and the public”.
