Philippi Residents to Receive Houses

Three beneficiaries of the Siyaphumelele Peoples Housing Process (PHP) project will receive the keys to their houses from Western Cape Government Human Settlements Minister Bonginkosi Madikizela on Thursday.

PHP is a human settlements housing programme in which the community takes an active role in the management of the project, including the selection of preferred contractors. The oldest beneficiary will be 50-year-old Mr M Mdingi, who has three family members. One of the outcomes of the programme is to for communities to develop a sense of ownership and pride in the project, along with some skills development.

The R21.4 million project will deliver 250 units when complete.
