Situation at Cederberg Council and Municipality

The situation at the Cederberg Council and Municipality seems to be worsening by the day and there are a number of allegations doing the rounds at present regarding inappropriate behaviour by councillors and certain employees of the municipality.
As the responsible Minister I have noted with concern at what is being said and will take appropriate action when required. It goes without saying that I will not hesitate to institute action should the these allegations have any foundation. I would however again like to stress that anybody mentioned in these allegations is innocent until proven guilty.
It is understood that the Auditor-General will shortly be forwarding its management letter in respect of the recent audit conducted to the municipality and treasury.
