Turn your Saturday into a Bafana Day

1 February 2013

Bafana Bafana, buoyed by their home support, will be eager to clip the wings of Mali (Eagles) when they play one of their biggest matches in recent history — the Orange Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) quarter-final in the Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban on Saturday, 2 February 2013.

All eyes will be on the national team, for the first time in 11 years playing in the quarter-finals. They started the tournament with an uninspiring performance in a goalless draw against debutants Cape Verde Islands, but since then have gradually captured the support of soccer-loving South Africans.

Having topped Group A, the team now has the desired “momentum, confidence and backing of the country”, which the team desperately needed. The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport encourages public servants to turn tomorrow into a soccerlicious Saturday in Mzantsi.

Dress up in the colours of Bafana, and together with your family, proudly wave the national flag and make a noise to show that with our solid support, the national soccer team certainly have a “better together” chance of reaching their first semi-final since 2000.
