More Weekly Public Aerobics Sessions Planned

6 September 2012

Plans are afoot to make the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport's Women's Month public aerobics sessions an ongoing weekly event. These events will run again on Friday mornings from 14 September to 2 November 2012 at the Company Gardens in Cape Town.

This initiative is part of the Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport Dr Ivan Meyer's plan to bring people together in the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle. The department intends to roll this public fitness initiative out to train stations over the next few months.

These sessions had a positive impact on participants during Women's Month in August. It was evident that participants were more productive in the workplace and there was a high level of excitement and cohesion among women participants.

The department is confident that these sessions will further help to improve the fitness of women and men, and they bring people together to live a healthier lifestyle. Members of the public are welcome to shape up by joining these sessions in the Company Gardens on Fridays between 08:15 and 09:00 for six consecutive weeks.
