Cultural and Artistic Talents of Nyanga on Show

13 September 2012

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport will partner with the Government Communication Information System (GCIS) and various other entities to showcase the cultural and artistic talents of the community of Nyanga. This event will also help combat social ills in the area.

Sport and recreational activities will be taking place at the Zolani Centre on Saturday 15 September 2012. Sixteen street soccer teams from the area and KTC will take part in a tournament, and two netball teams will play against each other. Individual performers will be entertaining the crowd and a fine arts exhibition of paintings and crafts will be on display.

Mr Armien White of the Service Delivery unit says the Department's mass participation drive provides opportunities for young people to participate in sport and recreational activities. Events of this nature help create awareness that there are healthy alternatives to crime, drug abuse and gangsterism.
