Public Works was represented at the recent Cape Town Flower Show and walked away with a bronze medal. André Rossouw, resident horticulturist at Leeuwenhof, made sure that his gardening team used their skills acquired through ABET and the Skills Development Programme to design a stand for the show.

A découpage technique was used to create colourful designs of the big five of our African wildlife and various flowers and plants on a range of flower pots.

"Taking part in the flower show was a direct result of our visit to the previous show during 2003. The team was so inspired that everyone decided to give it a bash this year," said André.

André is also very proud of the mosaic table made of pottery pieces found in the grounds at Leeuwenhof. Some of the pieces have incredible detail and may be a few hundred years old.
