Change to Service Delivery Focus for Public Service Staff

6 March 2005

Public Service Course for Service Delivery
Min. Cobus Dowry welcomes attendees with Valda Arendse. Ltr: Petro de Witt, James Abrahams, Clement Cupido, Benjamin August, Morné Carolis, Piet Adonis of the Department.
Staff members from the Western Cape Department of Agriculture were the first to attend a Re-orientation of the Public Service course presented by the Cape Academy for Learning at Kromme Rhee.

The course is a response to Public Service Minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi's request in her budget speech in June 2004 that every employee of Government should change their focus to service delivery.

Valda Arendse, the course trainer, says that public service is not a privilege but a right in any democratic society.

"We want to relinquish old attitudes, values and behaviours and instill a sense of fulfilling our noble mandate in a responsible manner."Approximately 9 000 public service employees will attend this course during the year.
