Urgent Alert: Due to Protest on N2 Motorists Advised to Use Alternative Routes

5 July 2005
The Western Cape Department of Community Safety would like to inform motorists using the N2 towards and from Cape Town, that there is a protest march and a demonstration on the N2 near Khayelitsha (6 July 2005).

Our Provincial traffic officers and the South African Police Services are at the scene monitoring the situation.

Motorists are being warned not to attempt to drive through the protest as this might be too risky.

Motorists are therefore requested to use the alternative routes or those directed so by the Traffic officials on the N2

Motorists travelling from Cape Town are advised to divert to the R300.

Those travelling from Somerset West are advised to divert to the R102.

Motorists coming from Baden Powell/ Stellenbosch should also divert to the R102 towards Cape Town.
