Funeral of Cheslyn Jones

28 July 2005
Western Cape Premier Ebrahim Rasool and MEC for Education Cameron Dugmore will tomorrow morning (Saturday 30 July 2005) attend the funeral of the 17-year-old Manenberg learner who was stabbed to death last week.

Cheslyn Jones, a Grade 11 learner from the Manenberg High School, was found laying in the streets with stab wounds to the head and back. His friends carried him back onto the school premises.

The principal, teachers and medical personnel tried to resuscitate him for over an hour, after which he died.

In this week MEC Dugmore met with teachers and members of the Manenberg Education Trust, and renewed the government's commitment to intensify the struggle against gangsterism and crime.

The MEC has committed himself to work with the community of Manenberg in their quest for safety for their children.
