All Inclusive Traffic Centre Opened In Beaufort West

Six hundred and forty nine thousand bricks, 1600 bags of cement, half a kilometer of fibre-optic cable and many kilometers of electric and data cables later and finally; the opening of the all inclusive traffic centre for Beaufort West. Boasting top of the range equipment, this facility includes an ambulance station, disaster and emergency control centre, and an impoundment facility which will be of service to the Central Karoo.

According to Herkie Bouwer, a local low scale architecture was used as the base model for the project. "We had to make sure that the building is aesthetically pleasing due to the fact that it is situated right next to the National Road that links the traffic coming from the north and south."

Although the team had to encounter extreme temperature variances during the contract period (ranging between - 6 to 42 degrees Celsius), nothing could stop the project to focus on the boosting of local business enterprise and learnership skills in the quest for economic development and job creation.

Herkie, Quantity Surveyor, Peter Lindhorst and the Public Works (General Buildings) Team put in many hours of "labour" into this R39milion project that features among the top Provincial Government economic interventions that contribute towards the iKapa Elihlumayo Growth and Development Strategy.
