Bellville Driver Arrested for Speeding in Beaufort-West

25 November 2009

Provincial Traffic officers arrested a speeding driver in Beaufort West on Monday at 15:00 when he drove his black BMW vehicle at 140km/h in a 60km/h speed zone.

This is reckless and such offences will be dealt with in the harshest sense, says the Minister of Community Safety, Adv. Lennit Max.

Mr. Erenst Johannes Uys (42) from Bellville, appeared in court and was fined R4000.

Max warned that any driver caught speeding will be treated likewise.

No money (fine) will and can repay the injuries and damage caused by such indiscretions.

Speeding on the roads of the Province will not be tolerated and no mercy will be shown to offenders.

These operations are part of the Integrated Summer Traffic Programme and also part of a joint campaign (safely home) by the Western Cape Departments of Community Safety and Transport and Public Works.
