MEC Max Commend Police and Community for Conduct During FIFA 2010 World Cup Draw

6 December 2009

The Minister of Community Safety, Adv. Lennit Max has commended the sterling work delivered by the police as well as the exceptional behaviour by the people who attended the recent festivities during the FIFA 2010 World Cup Draw in Cape Town.

He said that good strategies were put in place by the police to ensure that all people attending the prestigious event were safe at all times.

He also complimented the quick reaction of the police by apprehending and arresting the perpetrators who made false alarms and bomb scares during the proceedings.

Max says that the event once again highlighted the fact that the Western Cape can indeed produce events of such magnitude and that the people of the Western Cape can rise to the enormity of the occasion by displaying behaviour of exceptional conduct.

We can, as a Province, be truly proud of our law enforcement as well as our people who in great partnership have demonstrated that, come the FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup event on 11 June 2010, the Western Cape will be more than able to generate the same hype and good conduct, or even better.
