Minister Sakkie Jenner To Celebrate International Museum Day In George

The Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs, Sport and Recreation, Mr Sakkie Jenner will on Tuesday, 18 May 2010 be celebrating International Museum Day at the old Drostdy, which now houses the George Museum.

 

At the event Minister Jenner will be re-opening the museum, as well as officially launching an arts exhibition, comprising of artworks of Tyrone Appollis, Peter Clarke, Stanley Hermans, Tony Nkotsi and Willem Kentridge, but to name a few.

According to Minister Jenner, 'through this initiative we now have another draw card for visitors to this area, especially during the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup. 'Through this we want to take arts and culture to the people.'
