MEC Welcome Taxi Body's Decision to Work in Parnership with Government

19 May 2010

The Minister of Transport and Public Works, Robin Carlisle has warmly welcomed the decision by the Western Cape Provincial Taxi Alliance to engage the provincial government harmoniously in its future interactions with the government.

Minister Carlisle is encouraged that this is a step in the right direction towards building solid and lasting relationships with all the key players in the minibus taxi industry.

"I have always been of the strong view that negotiations are the best way to iron out whatever differences that may exist between the Western Cape Provincial Taxi Alliance and the provincial government. I applaud the leaders of the alliance for their commitment to work together with me for the common good of the minibus taxi industry in the province" says Carlisle.

The Minister emphasised that he is committed to build working relationships with the minibus taxi industry in his quest to create an enabling environment for an effective and reliable public transport system in the province.
