Media Alert: Bikers for Books and Balls Mass Ride for Rural Schools

On Saturday (12 June, 2010), Western Cape Community Safety MEC, Adv. Lennit Max will join Bikers for Books and Balls (an initiative by the online magazine Bikernews) in a mass ride from N1 City Mall through the streets of Cape Town to the Good Hope Centre.

The ride is in support, and to raise awareness, of their rural upliftment project aimed at collecting ten thousand (10 000) books and ten thousand (10 000) balls for underprivileged rural schools in the Western Cape.

MEC Max will meet up with motorcyclists at N1 City Mall between 9am and 10.30 am. They will depart at 10.45 am on a mass ride to the Good Hope Centre where a memorandum on the needs of rural schools will be accepted by a representative from the Western Cape Ministry of Education, on behalf of Western Cape Education MEC Donald Grant.

Route for mass ride:

  • N1 City to Vasco Blvd
  • Vasco Blvd to N1
  • N1 to Oswald Pirow
  • Oswald Pirow to Good Hope Centre

This weekend, the organisation will be targeting various malls throughout Cape Town to receive donations of books and balls for learners. These malls include: N1 City, Cape Gate, Paarl Mall, Bayside Mall, Vangate Mall, Golden Acre, and Kenilworth Centre.
