Head on Collision on the M3 Before the Tokai of Ramp: 16 September 2010

Last night (September 16, 2010) two vehicle where involve in a head on collision on the M3, 1km before the Tokia off ramp. One adult male was declared dead on arrival. Three males where in a critical condition and another two males where injured.

According to Metro Emergency Medical Services (EMS) staff on the scene, the two cars collided head on when a third car drove into the accident, causing one of the cars to catch alight. Metro EMS received the call at 23h31 and arrived on scene at 23h43 with full technical support and the Jaws of Life, extricating two of the patients from one of the vehicles. The road was closed for two hours.

The two critical male patients were transported to Groote Schuur Hospital by Metro EMS and ER24. One critical male and two injured males were transported to Victoria Hospital by Metro EMS and Netcare.
