Media Alert: South African Housing Foundation Awards at Moyo, Spier Wine Estate

Tonight, Tuesday 12 October 2010, Western Cape Minister for Human Settlements, Bonginkosi Madikizela will present Housing Awards to the winners at the awards ceremony scheduled to take place at Moyo, Spier Wine Estate. The Awards Ceremony is part of the International Housing Conference and Exhibition, taking place at the Cape Sun Hotel from 10-13 October, 2010. The conference is organised by the Southern African Housing Foundation (SAHF) and this year's conference and awards focuses on "Green Technology for Sustainable Human Settlements".

The Minister is much encouraged by the theme of the conference and exhibition which speaks to one of the Western Cape Provincial Government's strategic objectives, "Mainstreaming Sustainability and optimising Resource-use Efficiency", and a key outcome of another, "Developing Integrated and Sustainable Human Settlements".

The categories for the Awards are:
Best Housing Person of the Year 2010
Best Housing Student of the Year 2010
Best Housing Project of the Year 2010 - Under R120 000.00 per unit
Best Housing Project of the Year 2010 - Over R120 000.00 per unit
Best Housing Project of the Year - Over R500 000.00 per unit
Best Local Authority of the Year 2010
Best Community Development Project
