Melkhoutfontein beneficiaries to spend their first Xmas in newly built houses

19 December 2022

On Monday, 19 December, the Provincial Minister of Infrastructure Tertuis Simmers will hand over the first batch of houses at the Melkhoutfontein Housing Project. This is an incredible milestone for the project, as this comes 15 months to the date when the Minister turned-the-sod of the R135 million project. Upon completion, the project is envisaged to yield 590 housing opportunities.

Speaking on the upcoming historic housing handover Minister Simmers said: “I am looking forward to this historic handover. When I was here in September for the bricklaying ceremony, I made a promise to this community, that we will hand over the first unit by no later April 2023. However, my Department, together with the Hessequa Municipality have gone one better. On Monday we will come bearing gifts in the form of houses for this community.”
