Media Alert: Western Cape Department of Health to Commemorate International Nurses' Day

On Thursday, 12 May 2011, International Nurses' Day will be celebrated worldwide on the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth.

The Western Cape Department of Health commemorates this important day and will again honour the committed and dedicated work done by nurses in public health facilities through hosting a Nurses' Day event at Nelson's Creek Wine Estate.

This year's theme for International Nurses' Day is "Closing the Gap: Increasing Access and Equity". The Head of the Department, Professor Craig Househam, will address and recognise the contributions nurses make towards quality health care in the Western Cape.
