Human settlements minister visits Grabouw informal settlements water points

5 April 2020

On Monday, 6 April, Western Cape Minister of Human Settlements, Tertuis Simmers will visit informal settlements in Grabouw, where water tanks, have recently been delivered to.

This has been done in an effort to improve access to water and to strengthen improved hygiene practices, so that the spread of COVID-19 can be prevented.

Minister Simmer says: “The people of the Western Cape should be aware that their safety, health and basic rights are our top priority. As these water tanks have been provided in densely populated informal settlements across the country, to assist in efforts to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus, my department and the Municipalities across the Province has worked urgently and tirelessly to support the national Department of Water and Sanitation in fulfilling this mandate.”
