WC Para Athletes return with 13 of the 22 medals won in Switzerland

MEDIA STATEMENT: WC PARA ATHLETES RETURN WITH 13 OF THE 22 MEDALS WON AT THE WORLD PARA ATHLETICS JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Today the Western Cape Para Athletes returned from the World Para Athletics Junior Championship held in Nottwil, Switzerland last week.

Finishing 5th out of 35 participating countries, Team SA won 22 medals of which 13 came from our Western Cape athletes.

Minister Anroux Marais congratulates Team SA, particularly those hailing from the Western Cape and said, “The team displayed great sportspersonship while flying the South African flag high at one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events”.

We are immensely proud of our Western Cape Para Athletes’ performance and wish them well as they now prepare for the 2020 Paralympic Games to be held in Tokyo next year.
