Media Release: Make safety number one priority this Easter

17 April 2019

I call on all citizens to ensure that they not only focus on their own safety, but also the safety of their family members and broader community, this Easter.

I implore residents to be vigilant, as during periods such as these, there is a general trend toward increased criminal activity.

Let’s also ensure that we keep a close eye on the most vulnerable in our society, particularly our children.

If a criminal act is taking place, call the police on 10111, or call 021 480 7700 in the City of Cape Town.

If you’re travelling, adhere to the rules of the road and do not under any circumstances drive while intoxicated. This irresponsible and lawless behaviour could not only lead to you being jailed, but to injury and loss of life.

To those celebrating Easter, I wish you a blessed weekend.

A #SaferWesternCape can be achieved if we all act as the eyes and ears of our communities."
