Roadworks between Vredenburg and Paternoster

8 April 2019
Paternoster Paternoster

Half-width construction (the closure of one lane) will take place on sections of Main Road 240 between Vredenburg and Paternoster until February 2020.

Traffic flow traffic will be managed by stop/go traffic controls during the day and traffic signals at night.

The contract to upgrade Main Road 240 between Vredenburg and Paternoster to a Class 3 road has been awarded to Amandla Umzali Joint Venture.

The expected completion date of the project is March 2020.

It is a provision of the contract that traffic must be accommodated with the least delay and discomfort to the public. This project will be undertaken using half-width construction (the closure of one lane) with stop/ go traffic controls during the day, and traffic signal controls at night. The distance between each traffic control will be a minimum of 1 km.

The safety and convenience of the travelling public are of utmost importance and every effort will be made to ensure that all temporary road signs, cones, flag operators and speed controls are maintained and are effective, and that courtesy is extended to the public at all times. The contractor is required to make use of approved methods to control the movement of equipment and vehicles so as not to constitute a hazard on public roads.

The public is requested to be patient and exercise caution when using this road.
