R27 roadworks R27

There will be a temporary height restriction of 5,1m on the R27 Cape Town/ Velddrif road just before the Saldanha turnoff.

Steel beams will be placed across the road on 3 and 4 December 2018, during which there will be day-time stop/ go operations. The waiting times at control points should not be more than 10 minutes. The height restriction will remain in place until end of May 2019.

Alternative routes are available and are shown overleaf.

It is a provision of the contract that traffic must be accommodated with the least delay and discomfort to the public. No full road closures are allowed. The safety and convenience of the travelling public are of utmost importance and every effort will be made to ensure that all temporary road signs, cones, flag operators and speed controls are maintained and are effective, and that courtesy is extended to the public at all times. The contractor is required to make use of approved methods to control the movement of equipment and vehicles so as not to constitute a hazard on public roads. The public is requested to be patient and exercise caution when stop/ go traffic controls are in use.

Members of the travelling public are urged to keep to the displayed speed limits for their own safety and the safety of the construction workers. Speed law enforcement will be undertaken from time to time.
