Central Karoo athletes achieve gold and silver at Provincial RSDP

On Saturday 27 October 2018 the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) co-hosted the Provincial Rural Sport Development Programme (RSDP) Games in Paarl.

The RSDP encourages youth on farms to become actively involved in sports and recreation in line with the DCAS vision of a socially inclusive, creative and active Western Cape. Since August 2018 intra-district games took place in the Cape Winelands, Central Karoo, Garden Route and West Coast.

A total of 30 athletes from the intra-district games competed at the cross-country event. Central Karoo Sport Academy athletes Yulenda Goeieman won gold and Bernadine Kolela won silver. The Central Karoo Sport Academy provides athletes with scientific support services throughout the year in preparation for district, provincial, national and international competitions.

DCAS promotes sport in the rural communities. Let us continue to encourage our youth to take part in sport to build a healthier and stronger Western Cape, BETTER TOGETHER.
