DSD Winter Campaign taken to Vredendal shelter by Minister Fritz

10 July 2018

Today, the Western Cape Minister of Social Development, Albert Fritz, will continue the Department’s Winter Campaign on the West Coast.

The Minister will visit the Onse Kaia Shelter in Vredendal to oversee its operations, and donate to the shelter for the homeless.

The Winter Campaign forms part of the Departments overall preparations for the wet and cold winter months. Our major preparations involve shelters for homeless adults, social work services aimed at family reunification, and social relief of distress.

The MEC will be joined by our NGO partner, Al-Imdaad, which has generously joined the Department in providing blankets, mattresses, and non-perishable food stuffs to numerous shelters across the province.

There will be opportunities for interviews and photographs.
