Participants bring their A-Game to Metro Better Together Games

30 October 2017

The Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) hosted the last of a series of Better Together games in the Cape Metropole on 27 October 2017 at the Blue Downs Stadium. The games were held in partnership with the City of Cape Town and corporates Old Mutual, Nedbank and Peninsula Beverages.

Eager Western Cape Government Employees were addressed by the Premier of the Western Cape, Helen Zille, who geared the crowd up for the excitement that the day was going to bring. “We are going to have a really good time here today; this is a very important day to build a family spirit within the Western Cape Government. Despite all the challenges we go through, we put that behind us and we try and get ahead of each other in friendly competition.” the Premier said.

The games kicked off with a traditional march-past and thereafter participants had the opportunity to gain victory in the following sport codes: Fun run and walk, Chess, Darts, Dominoes, cricket, soccer, netball, touch rugby, volley ball, tug of war and a highlight for many - the athletic sprint and relay.

DCAS encourages employees to use sport as a tool for team spirit. Let’s invest in our general well-being and improve our potential and corporate productivity, BETTER TOGETHER
