Minister Fritz Hands over Blankets to the Youth Empowerment Project in Franschhoek

11 June 2012

Western Cape Minister of Social Development, Albert Fritz, will today (12 June) hand over a donation of knitted blankets and other bedding to the Youth Empowerment Project in Franschhoek.

The blankets are donated by the residents at Lindelani, one of seven facilities in the province that provides secure care for youth at risk or vulnerable youth. One of their programmes focuses on community outreach, allowing the boys through community work to give back to society in one way or another. Through this process, they are taught to become responsible and caring citizens.

Lindelani partnered with the Knit-a-Square Foundation in this project. The foundation donates squares which are knitted by individuals all over the world and the boys at Lindelani sewed the squares together into blankets.
