DCAS Supports Knowledge Economy At LIASA Conference

6 October 2017

The Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) supported the 18th Library and Information Association of South Africa (LIASA) Conference that took place in Gauteng from 2 until 6 October 2017.

LIASA is a non-profit organisation that unites and represents the interests of all library institutions and people working in the library and information services sector in South Africa.

The 2017 theme “Re-envisioning the role of Library and Information Services”, encouraged delegates to reflect on the current state of libraries and librarianship and the future of library and information services in South Africa.

The exhibition village at the conference provided the opportunity to the Western Cape Library Service to proudly share the services and projects of the 371 affiliated public libraries in the province through publications and promotional material alongside the other eight provincial library services that are supported by the National Library of South Africa.

DCAS is committed to transforming and enhancing library services in the province through partnerships. Let’s support and acknowledge the vital role librarians play in our knowledge economy, BETTER TOGETHER.
