Department to host child justice Probation Services Workshop

Tomorrow, the Western Cape Department of Social Development will host the provincial child justice Probation Services Workshop.

The Department has invited child justice experts, Magistrate judges, Probation Social Workers, and NGO partners who manage Child & Youth Care Centres (CYCCs) to join us for a workshop to discuss how we can collectively improve our efforts to deliver on the Child Justice Act of 2008.

This Act makes provision for the care and probation services to children who are in conflict with the law.

The Western Cape Minister of Social Development, Albert Fritz, will address the Probation Workshop.

The multi-stakeholder meeting will have representatives from the;

• South African Police Services,
• The Judiciary (Children’s Courts),
• The Department of Justice & Constitutional Development,
• The National Prosecuting Authority,
• Legal Aid Board,
• Various child justice and CYCC NGO partners.

There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.
