Knysna sub-district - 9 June 2017

9 June 2017

Knysna sub-district:

Knysna Hospital remains closed.  Water will be restored later today. No services are rendered from the hospital.

Only one primary health care facility remains closed which is Keurhoek Clinic in Rheenendal. All other primary health care facilities are open, although some with limited staff.

Loerie Park Grounds is currently a mobile hospital site for emergencies. Patients will be stabilised here and transferred to George Hospital if they require further medical care or discharged.

No patients will be able to stay over at the mobile site as this is regarded as a site which deals with medical emergencies.

A doctor is stationed at Sedgefield Clinic to attend to emergency cases for the Sedgefield and Karatara areas.

There are also two doctors at Knysna community day centre(CDC) for emergencies. The facility will render other services as normal.

The same concept applies at both Knysna CDC and Sedgefield Clinic. Emergencies will be stabilised and transferred to George Hospital.

Plettenberg Bay:

All PHC facilities are open and rendering services, although some with limited staff.

Kwanokuthula CDC is rendering a 24-hour service at the moment.

We thank everyone for their role in ensuring our patients, the most vulnerable, were brought to safety and cared for as it speaks volumes about our journey towards adding more public value.
