Minister Carlisle Celebrates "1 000 Lives Saved"

22 July 2012

Minister of Transport and Public Works, Robin Carlisle, and the Department of Transport and Public Works: Safely Home are proud to celebrate the success that Safely Home has had in reducing roadside fatalities in the Western Cape. The statistics show that fatalities have been reduced by 29% since the beginning of 2009, representing more than 1 000 lives saved. We will be hosting a "1 000 Lives Saved" event to mark this road safety milestone.

On 24 July, a total of 1 000 volunteers from across the provincial government will assemble to give a visual representation of the 1 000 lives that have been saved. The Master of Ceremonies will be 567 Cape Talk presenter, Africa Melane.
