DCAS and Netball South Africa (NSA) host Coaches Workshop

17 May 2017

The Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) in partnership with Netball South Africa (NSA) and Western Cape Netball (WCN) hosted a Coaches Workshop on Saturday, 13 May 2017 at the Bellville Velodrome.

The workshop coincided with the Cape Town leg of the Brutal Fruit Netball Premier League (BFNPL). Workshop-goers had the opportunity to see the country’s top provincial netball teams, including the Western Cape Southern Stings, in action. The last leg of the BFNPL will take place at the Bellville Veldrome from 19 to 20 May 2017.

The purpose of the workshop was to empower administrators within the Netball Fraternity to understand the operations of the sport and to structure their business in an efficient and professional manner. Agentha Langenhoven from Sport Promotion at DCAS said that it offered a valuable opportunity to netball clubs that are part of the club development programme, as well as the various netball federations, to promote the sport in the Western Cape.

Representatives from netball clubs and federations from all six districts in the Western Cape attended the workshop. Presentations were conducted by leaders within the South African Netball fraternity. Mami Diale and Blanche de la Guerre from NSA covered topics such as club development structures, administration and financial management and management of team managers.

DCAS offers an environment in which sporting skills, talents and techniques can be developed. The well-equipped coaches transfer valuable knowledge to participants and communities - BETTER TOGETHER.
