Roadworks on the R27 West Coast road

Roadworks will be taking place on the R27 West Coast Road between 08:00 and 18:00 on the following days while road marking is in progress.

  • Tuesday, 21 February 2017: Between Melkbosstrand and Sandown Road intersections. No lane merging is expected on the single carriageway.
  • Wednesday to Friday, 22 to 24 February 2017: Between Racecourse and Sandown Road intersections. The right hand lanes will be closed on both the north- and southbound carriageways.

Please note that delays are expected. Motorists are encouraged to make use of alternative routes where possible.

Both lanes on the southbound carriageway will be open during the morning peak (06:00 to 10:00) and both lanes on the northbound carriageway will be open during the afternoon peak (15:00 to 19:00) on these dates.

The safety and convenience of the travelling public are of utmost importance and every effort will be made to ensure that all temporary road signs, cones, flag operators and speed controls are maintained and are effective, and that courtesy is extended to the travelling public at all times.

The public is requested to be vigilant and exercise caution when using this road, especially at night.

The high-quality road infrastructure that the Department of Transport and Public Works provides is an important component of a safe and effective transport system, and an enabler of economic and social development in the Western Cape.
