City shopping mall set to save thousands of electricity units each day

15 February 2017

A city shopping mall is on track to save 2 000 units of electricity each day.

This week, Bayside Mall takes centre stage in the Western Cape Government’s month-long energy efficiency awareness campaign.

The campaign’s message is: “Solar. The best way to save under the Sun.” It focuses on raising awareness about the benefits of installing solar water heaters and solar PV panels, as a cost saving measure, and in line with creating a greener world.

Tomorrow (16 February 2017) Alan Winde, Minister of Economic Opportunities, will visit Bayside Mall, which recently launched its Going Green project.

As part of this initiative, the establishment has fitted a range of sustainable energy technologies.

Through this campaign, the Western Cape Government is seeking to showcase the contribution of business owners in this province who are leading the way in operating responsibly.
