16 Days of Activism public awareness campaign to be hosted by MEC Fritz

28 November 2016

As part of our 16 Days of Activism Against Women & Child Abuse campaign, the Western Cape MEC for Social Development, Albert Fritz, will lead an awareness and public outreach initiative at the Cape Town Station during peak morning rush hour.

The aim is to reach as many as possible with our message calling for people to “SPEAK OUT”, encouraging victims to move from “SILENCE TO STRENGTH”.

Minister Fritz will be joined by a team of departmental social workers and experts from Victim Empowerment Programme.

The Department spends the greatest proportion of its budget (R645-million) on services to women and children. This public outreach initiative will see us distribute information leaflets and raise awareness around where and how to access the Departments services for women and children.

There will be opportunities for interviews and photographs.

Date: 29 November 2016 (Tuesday)

Time: 06:30am – 07:30am.

Venue: Cape Town Train Station (on the taxi rank platform), Cape Town
