A bold new digital world for Cape health professionals

MTN SA Foundation, in partnership with the Western Cape Department of Health, has handed over a 41 seater state-of-the-art multi-media centre to the Western Cape Emergency Care College, Tygerberg Hospital Campus.

The handover is part of the Foundation’s mandate to use technology to empower health care workers by supporting them with digitised content and ICT support during training. 

The multi-media centre, consists of 41 workstations, two projectors, air-conditioner, security systems, two interactive whiteboards, two servers, a modem that supports Wi-Fi as well as two years connectivity (20 gigs per month). The college will also receive a compujector with digitised content.

All of this will be accessible to students and health care professionals of the province. 

This centre is unique in that it is the first training centre that has been equipped by the Foundation in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Sector, granting access to these professionals,

This is the first college to gain a multi-media centre from the Foundation in the province. So far eight colleges nationally have benefitted from the programme.   In the last two years MTN SA Foundation has invested over R7 million in similar colleges throughout the country.

Through partnerships such as this, we are able to address specific cost and investment challenges, deliver improvements in efficiency, enhance service quality and increase the wellbeing of people in the Western Cape,” said Minister Nomafrench Mbombo.
