Senior Citizens Enjoy the Outdoors at Provincial Golden Games in Blue Downs

5 September 2016

On Wednesday 31 August 2016 the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) provided an opportunity for senior citizens to participate in the Provincial Golden Games that took place in Blue Downs. The event was organised and presented in conjunction with the Western Cape Older Persons’ Forum (WCOPF) and local municipalities who also made a significant contribution to ensure that the day was a great success.

The games serve an important purpose as they provide a space for senior citizens to socially interact with one another and to participate in lively recreational activities, all contributing to living an active lifestyle.

Provincial Coordinator of the Golden Games, Jody Urion, said that the Provincial Golden Games were a huge success and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended. “We are most proud of all the participants for showcasing their talents and passion for being active citizens.” he said.

Let us continue to promote a socially active and inclusive Western Cape, BETTER TOGETHER.
