Minister Plato conducts safety outreach and opportunities to Khayelitsha

24 May 2016

Today, Tuesday 24 May 2016, Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, Dan Plato, will engage with the broader Khayelitsha community on issues affecting their safety and offer assistance in addressing these concerns.

Minister Plato will be engaging with the religious fraternity in the area on the various opportunities available to partner with the Department of Community Safety, especially through the Youth, Safety and Religious Partnership (YSRP).

Later in the morning, Minister Plato, together with officials from the Department of Community Safety, will officially hand over a Safety one of our safety partners, the Violence Prevention through Urban Upgrading (VPUU) in Khayelitsha.

The handover of the kiosk in Khayelitsha today forms part of the delivery of the Safety Kiosks under the new Safety Partnerships which will see the roll out of 40 Safety Kiosks by the Department of Community Safety and relevant safety stakeholders and will enable communities to play an active role in identifying and resolving safety concerns that exist within their neighbourhoods.

There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.
