Official Opening of State of the Art Symphony Way Community Day Centre

28 April 2016

Today the Western Cape Minister of Health, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, officially opened the new Symphony Way Community Day Centre. The facility will provide further healthcare coverage for communities currently serviced by the Delft CHC.

With the drastically increasing Delft population, the newly opened Symphony Way Community Day Centre comes as welcome addition to our service offering.

The new facility represents an investment of close to R50 million in the health of our people in Delft. It will be serviced by a staff complement of 58 staff members and uses modern technology, including Digital X-ray and e-reception, which creates an easy flow of operations around the clinic. It is also equipped with a modern appointment system which assists with patient flow and the reduction of waiting  times at the clinic.

Minister Mbombo said, “It is heartening to be able to bring a state of the art facility to the people of Delft. Since it began operating, the facility has on average seen over 6000 people a month. This is a good indication of the community’s use of the facility.”
“This is not the Department’s facility, it is the community’s. I hope to see the community take ownership of their new facility by working with the Department through the local clinic committee which will be appointed later in the year. Working together, we can strengthen health services in all our communities,” added the Minister.
An elderly member of the community has only praise for the new CDC since it opened to the public last year. Ms Nancy Mazamisa, is a 74 year old patient at Symphony Way CDC who lives nearby and started going to the facility when it opened.

Ms Mazamisa states that her life has improved as she gets better assistance at the new facility.

“I now get help and I am feeling better. The staff are very helpful and now my wounds have started to heal,” she says.

Ms Mazamisa advises people to use the services at Symphony Way CDC to experience better treatment and convenience.

Services offered:

Symphony Way CDC renders a full Primary Health Care service including , Mother and Child Health, Chronic Disease management, Oral health, Nutrition,  Mental Health and Rehabilitative services. The facility will operate 8 hours per day.

We are  committed to improving the lives our people in the Western Cape by delivering greatly improved health facilities to communities who need them most.
