Athletes Celebrate Their Achievements At Overberg Sports Awards

23 November 2015

Various athletes from the Overberg District came together on Friday 20 November 2015 to proudly celebrate their athletic achievements at the Overberg District Sports Awards in Caledon.

The Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) in partnership with the Overberg Sport Council and Overberg District Municipality hosted this prestigious event in honour of the district’s athletes.

Young and old walked away with prizes and trophies. They were praised for their achievements and they were proud of everything they had accomplished.

Advocate Lyndon Bouah, Chief Director of Sport at DCAS, welcomed everyone present and extended his congratulations to every athlete. He said, “The role of the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport is to ensure an active and better Western Cape. In order to do this, we have to build partnerships with civil society, our local government and our national government. As the Department, our view is that we must enable and facilitate. I would like to wish all the nominees well tonight. It is considered a great success just to be nominated. Tonight you are all winners.”

DCAS continues to partner with sport federations to ensure that athletes are acknowledged for their sporting achievements. Let us continue to support our athletes to achieve new heights BETTER TOGETHER.
