Media Alert: Premier to open multi-million rand medical imaging department

19 August 2015

Tomorrow, 20 August 2015, Premier Helen Zille will officially unveil the multi-million rand Medical Imaging Department at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.

The Imaging Department will provide Radiology and Nuclear Medicine treatment to all patients at the hospital.

The Radiology Department will provide X-rays, CT scans and MRIs for patients while the Nuclear Medicine Department uses radioactivity to create images of organs and diseases. This is the only dedicated paediatric nuclear medicine facility in South Africa. The new complex consolidates the services of the hospital’s existing Radiology and Nuclear Medicine departments.

The hospital is a result of a partnership between the Western Cape Government and The Children’s Hospital Trust.

Premier Zille will give the keynote address before officially opening the facility.

All media are invited to attend.
