Minister Plato to hand over Safety Kiosk to Tygerberg Hospital

On Monday, 27 July 2015, Minister of Community Safety, Dan Plato, will officially hand over a Safety Kiosk to the Tygerberg Hospital in an effort to assist with both the Department of Health and the Department of Community Safety’s ongoing safety interventions at provincial government facilities.

Identified security risks at Tygerberg hospital initiated the development of a security project with the aim of enhancing the security resilience of the Tygerberg Hospital precinct.

The Safety Kiosk will be utilized for crime prevention by increasing visibility in hotspot areas and through daily operations and blitzes in partnership with Tygerberg Management.

The handover of the kiosk in Tygerberg forms part of the delivery of the first phase of the new Safety Partnerships which will see the roll out of 40 Safety Kiosks by the Department of Community Safety and relevant safety stakeholders.

The hand over tomorrow will include a walk-about in the hospital to showcase the other security measures implemented as part of the overall Tygerberg Hospital Safety & Security Project.

There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.
