Judo Grows From Strength to Strength

1 July 2015

The South African Judo Open Championships began at Coetzenburg Stadium in Stellenbosch on 30 June 2015. The competition has been organised by the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, in partnership with the Cape Winelands Municipality and Judo South Africa. It will run until 4 July.

Approximately 1 200 entries were received from judokas of every level of experience, from juniors to masters. Various South African provinces are fielding teams, and teams from Botswana, Namibia and Mauritius are also participating.

Anroux Marais, Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, welcomed participants and wished them well. She said, “our vision is to create an active, winning nation and to create opportunities for all sports and sport people”.

DCAS creates opportunities for all to compete at the highest level in their chosen sport. Let’s continue to create an active, healthy Western Cape BETTER TOGETHER.
