“Make It New” Exhibition Now At The V&A Waterfront

12 November 2014

The “Make It New” exhibition took place at Cape Town Stadium from 15-19 October 2014 and was a huge hit. An extension of this Cape Craft and Design Institute exhibition is currently running until 15 December at the newly opened Watershed at the V & A Waterfront, in Cape Town. The “Make It New” exhibtion is presented by the Cape Craft and Design Institute (CCDI) and sponsored by the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS).

The “Make It New” exhibition is part of a flagship project of World Design Capital (WDC) Cape Town 2014, titled Makers + Thinkers – see. learn. do. The exhibition features the work of over 170 designers and craft producers from all over the Western Cape. It  leads visitors on to a striking showcase of contemporary items, exploring local design sensibility, and through the disruptive layout and product selection it prompts reflection on the nature of the Western Cape’s current design handwriting and the fusion – or not – of cultures and influences.

Through initiatives such as the “Make It New” exhibition, the CCDI assists DCAS to unlock innovation and creativity in the Western Cape by offering a platform to unearth hidden talents so that we can be better together.

The exhibition will run daily from 10:00 until 19:00.
