IEC to partner with DoCS and SAPS to Professionalise CPF Elections

11 November 2014

Tomorrow, 12 November 2014, Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, Dan Plato, the Independent Electoral Commission’s (IEC’s) Western Cape Provincial Electoral Officer, Reverend Courtney Sampson, and the South African Police Service (SAPS) will sign a Memorandum of Agreement to professionalise the election of new Community Policing Forums (CPFs) across the Western Cape.

This partnership between the Department of Community Safety, the SAPS and the IEC will establish sound processes to ensure that elections are done fairly and democratically, and that we render the needed support to all CPFs in the Western Cape.

The new CPFs will be elected to serve their communities for the next five years. They play an integral role with regards to building the relationship between SAPS and the communities across the province.

There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.
