West Coast Memorial Services for Nelson Mandela

The following places in the West Coast will have memorial services for former president Nelson Mandela:

  • Clanwilliam - each church will conduct their own space of tribute as part of their Sunday services on 8 December.
  • Lamberts Bay - all faith-based organisations will have a combined memorial service at the Community Hall at 15:00 on 8 December.
  • Vredenburg PVA - Places of Tribute centres are activated. All people will gather together on day five for the official memorial service on 10 December.
  • Swartland - Places of Tribute are at the municipal building where people can sign the register and lay flowers. On 8 December all churchers will have their own individual memorial services.
  • Velddrif, Proteville and Piketberg - All community members will be able to come and light a candle and pay tribute to Madiba at the Places of Tribute. All churches will have their own individual memorial services.
  • Porteville - The official memorial service will be screened at the Public Viewing Area at N Otto Community Hall on 10 December.
  • Moorreesburg - The official memorial service will be screened at the Public Viewing Area (venue to be confirmed) on 10 December.
