Indaba Revives Netball in the Western Cape

18 November 2013

Representatives from various Western Cape netball structures, associations and commissions entered into a clear partnership and set of agreements for the forthcoming year at an Indaba held in Kuils River on Saturday, 16 November 2013.

Progress towards the targets will be monitored by Western Cape Netball.

Netball stakeholders participated in constructive discussions about structure and management, selection, players, coaching and umpiring.

Those present agreed to communicate clearly about major netball events and tournament results and establish a database of players, coaches, umpires and technical officials. They also agreed to jointly draft a development plan for players, coaches, umpires and technical officials.

Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport Dr Ivan Meyer said the effective and efficient administration and leadership showed by netball representatives is having a positive impact on the lives of many people. This is making a meaningful contribution to what he called in his Budget Speech the “netball revolution”.

Chairperson of Western Cape Netball, Bennie Saayman thanked those who attended for their contributions. “I’m confident that the document we have agreed on will pave the way to better mutual understanding.”
